Hmm how effective are they? I currently use them for my hydroponic garden, but never thought they would be good as bio media?

Excellent bio media as they are very porous and make for a good surface area for the bacteria to cling to.

@MariaS Thank you! It's tedious work, but no pain no gain right? There's still a long way to go, I'm also modifying the marine sump to a more friendly fresh one. I also still need a few 1.2m canopies with lights. Rome wasn't built in a day, but with steady progress I'll eventually get done! I'll keep you posted! I hope that you had a wonderful Mothers Day! Regards

Thanks very much @TrevorR ... Was a nice quiet day with he family which was very nice....
Weather was not too bad for a braai so it was great... hehe.. only to wake up to a freezing morning and loads of rain this morning!!

You right... rushing the project is not worth it.. rather take the time to do things right
Might be a pain but well worth the trouble in the end

Ok final changes to my re-purposed sump, overflow traps installed, bags filled, clay bricks wrapped and installed! Big job reaching the final phase...20180517_153251.jpg 20180517_154036.jpg 20180517_154144.jpg 20180517_153405.jpg 20180517_155309.jpg 20180517_155927.jpg

I used to do that, I have space for it, but probably won't, I prefer to keep most of my bacteria culture. I have many sumps and keeping all the batting clean is a huge job...
