Shot. Yes it is a stick on.

I'm not a fan of it either, but it was affordable and practical for me. I'm thinking of buying a few pieces of black perspex to stick in there to cover the filter media etc.

Why dnt u make it part if ur canopy ...so from the stand the same wood will cover the media side and connect to the canopy. Will look like the tank is sticking out of the cupboard. Hard to explain...without pics.

@BradK , if you either paint the inside of the internal filter black or smear the glass on the filter side with black silicone, you dont see a thing

Not much to update, except the fact that Nitrites are 0 and Nitrates are at 10.

Keep an eye on the - what looks to be mondo grass ... if it is, it is not aquatic and has a nasty habit of fouling the tank after being OK in the tank for a few months.

Think you going to need two more lights .. but the search light affect sure looks cool ;-)

Thanks for the heads up about the grass. It makes me angry though. I paid R50 for that plant.

The light will be raised slightly higher when I am finished the new canopy. The light should be spread slightly more, although, I do like the idea of having a shaded area in the tank...

So, I bought 1kg of Haifa Multicote and 20 gel capsules. I've buried 4 capsules amongst the plants, 2 on the left and 2 on the right. Let's see what happens :)

So I'm trying my hand at keeping Rams. Bought this one today. Anyone able to sex a Ram? Apparently quite difficult to tell male from female.

    Thank you, @MariaS.

@f-fish, do you know how to tell the gender of a Ram?
