Ok let me not rush into this ... see some cool cleaning action going on. No I do not do substrate vacuuming - can you tell?

We have had some warm weather - to the point that the heaters have not kicked in in August. So time for a WC tomorrow?

Few months have passed - gave the fish food and very little fertz .. oh yes mushrooms about it. Had some bad duckweed. That is now looking way better, did a 120% WC today ( yes flushed while polishing) Left the canister uncleaned for now.

Thanks ... might do a bit more aggressive dosing .. see if we can get more new growth this season - esp now that the BBA thing is still MIA with the 24x7 aeration.

Yeah reduced the count to 10 tanks this winter. All the big tanks are in a some way or shape in a rescape since I pulled most of the plants over the last few weekends.

NO special pics to post at the moment.

Beginning of lockdown I started with Lucky13 - did a massive pull on a very overgrown tank - but not being in the right headspace to rescape or do anything more than move stuff from a tank to a bag for disposal ... the bits I thought I would want to keep and play with later was just left to float and stay in the tank.

    P4170130.jpg
So for a few weeks now stuff happened and well the tank survived - why would it not- more light hit these plants after the pull than the previous X months ;-)

This morning I am sitting with a camera taking some snaps of what is actually going on in the tank - maybe we have a rescaped tank by the end of day?

removed the loose bits - mostly buce and anubias

    P4180350.jpg

so the tank now looks something like this

    P4180143.jpg

see I do have a some nice pockets of gunk - not sure if I want to clean that up or not - not being a big gravel vacuuming and all that.

2L of buce and anubias to play with, on top of what’s still in the tank. Nice

The buce and anubias in the foreground, on the substrate, are they attached to pebbles resting on the substrate? How do you keep the rhizomes clear?

Clearly the reduced light hitting the substrate was not good for some plants .... but I think they will do Ok in a few months time. P4180154.jpg P4180156.jpg P4180187.jpg

What else is still thriving in this tank ?

Glad to see an SAE still in the tank.

Got a few of these guys maybe two females among them - still it seems to be working loads of babies.

Next steps - coffee, then we ponder what to do in the tank.
