Hi guys i got this little guy at the LFS about 3 weeks ago for R28 , he was in with a bunch of common pleco's, and only now managed to get a photo of him.
I am 100% sure its from the L range of pleco's and think its a Panaque maccus.
Can anyone confirm this or tell me what it is .
    Thanks

    return of da maccus

Aren't you glad your day turned around like that?:blink1:
    I'd be STOKED!

Normal retail pricing may seem offputting at first, but these ARE cool fish, remain small, and are breedable!!!

    Expect young Clown Pleco
    [Panaque maccus OR P vittata]
( different species, same common name)
Selling perhaps between 5 and 10 TIMES that price?

    Yours look like P maccus.
Decide which way to go , IF/WHEN you find more and they are NOT identical species.....
Whether you buy 2 more, or skip on adding another 1 of different species?

    Feed cucumber/squash 2-3 times weekly.
I think I see enough wood for them to chow down on
...and chuck in some sinking high protein granular food , and maybe frozen bloodworm/mysis/artemia to round out a healthy maintenance AND breeding diet.
Warm, clear water with Efficient filtration, and good oxygenation sets your fish up for a GREAT lifestyle.

    enjoy your fish responsibly:p

I wish i could find a Clown pleco here in jhb i had a gold nugget once but when i bought him he was so sick i tried to save him (that's why i bought him) but the lfs had treated it so badly that he was beyond saving. I cried my eyes out for a few days afterwards! Very emotional stuff!

Well, they are in their own tank, except for a couple of cories... One has taken residence in a cave, so I think that's a male. The rest just bomb around the tank. I also have one really pissed off Apistogramma Viejita female in the tank. Don't know why she's so angry though...

Maybe she's pissed off because one of these are missing in her life!

Apistogramma viejita are a peaceful, easy to keep Apistogramma if it's requirements are met.
1)They require a densely planted tank with lots of hideouts.
2)Best kept in pairs or a single male with a few females in a large species tank(60- 80l).
3)Peat filtration is necessary, the water should be at least slightly acidic, and soft.
    4)Frequent waterchanges are recommended.
    Temperature: 23 - 30 °C
    Feeding: Live and frozen food.
    Size: Up to 6 cm.
    pH: 5.5-6.5. dGH below 5
