Hi All, so I am new to aquariums. I have a 4foot tropical aquarium at the moment with the following fish in it :
    Angels
    Ancistrus
    Cardinals
    Phantoms - Black
    Phantoms - Red
    Sterbai Corys
    Dwarf Cockatoos

I'd like to do another aquarium, but with different fish, possibly from a different region. Any ideas ?. My current aquarium is apparently a planted South American Amazon aquarium. Can you give me ideas of a different region to use and possibly what fish I'd be able to then put into it.

    Thank you.

Well the most common answer will be
    African fish

    Mbunas
    Peacocks
    Haps
    Shelldwellers
    Kribensis
    Frontosas
    Calvus
    Synodontis
    Bicher

Lot of options with lot of colours...

Thank you. Wow there are some stunners in that list. I didn't even consider African fish at first.

When you say aggressive ? - what you mean ?. Should I only choose from a certain lot ?. Or only choose particular ones in your list that would be compatible ?

What size tank do you think I'd require to do an African aquarium without too much aggression ?

The bigger wil always be better

Dwarves in a 2 foot like the multifasciatus
    Peacocks and mbunas in 4ft
Haps and lake tangenyika fish will be best in bigger tanks

    Welcome to tasa!

So maybe to try help you figure out what to go with, we can try either figure out what the biggest size tank you want and then decide what fish to keep based on that size, or if size won't be an issue, you can decide on the fish you like, maybe pick from that list from @CJ43 which 1 species you like the most and plan the tank and tank mates around that particular species

I really do like the look of the Kribensis fish. I am thinking ideally another 4 foot, but might consider a 6 foot. What are the standard dims of a 6 foot ?

    Welcome to the Forum.

Kribs are nice. Generally stay near the bottom of the tank
So types that occupy the mid / upper areas would be good.
Angels, tetras, bards, rainbowfish would all be good options.

With the tank size. Go as big as you can. Often people get a smaller tank, and then immediately regret that and want a bigger one straight away.

Thanks man. Yeah I recently got a 4 foot tank which has been setup Amazon with Angels, cardinals, phantoms, sterbai corys, ancistrus and dwarf cockatoos. loving it. But I do think I should have gone 6foot. Lol. So I am wanting to do something completely different with my second one.
