Just make sure it's the right type of lighting TM. You don't want to get so much wattage, and find it doesn't promote photosynthesis... then all you'll land up with is stagnant plants, and blooming algae.

    Hi Zaraki

You should rather get rid of the 10000K tubes altogether. Not a good idea. T5? How big is your tank? I would suggest 2 x 6500K T5 tubes for any tank, unless it's very deep. Match the tube length to the tank length and you can't go wrong. 2 x T5's. That is it. For example, a 5ft tank should be fine with 2 x 54W T5 tubes. Unless you inject CO2, you cannot use more light otherwise you will be fighting algae non-stop.

Regarding the carpet plants...what about this?

    http://www.tropica.com/advising/plant-articles/marsilea-hirsuta.aspx

"Marsilea hirsuta is well suited to create a low and dense, green cover in the foreground of the aquarium. This plant is only a few centimetres tall, it grows slowly and it is easy to keep, also for the beginner since Marsilea hirsuta thrives even at very low light."

    Hi

Yes I think I am the ONLY person with that plant that I know of. And I have it in a lowish light tank without CO2. It is a slow grower, but doing well. But I have patience...

If I do get some time over the year end holidays I will set up a 2ft with PFP, higher light and DIY CO2 and see if I can grow enough to supply some to other folks. I don't like DIY CO2 because of the effort and time it takes. It is also quite costly in the long run. But perhaps for a month or so over the holidays I can probably manage that. I will keep you all posted on those developments.

I got mine from Dolphin. I don't know when he expects another plant order. Perhaps he may be able to get some more.

    Regards
    Lauré
