Looking for black sand & rock feature for a malawi set ups

Hi Guys,

I am new to this, anyway i will get straight to the point. I have a juwel rio 180 with malawis.
I am looking to change to a black substrate & put in a rock feature preferably 3/4 of the length from one end to the other.
I have never really bought decorations, ornaments etc i bought this tank second hand and it came with everything however,
it is not an ideal set up for malawis (did abit of research).

Anybody who does aquascaping or pottery out there that can quote me on this?
Nothing too extravagent as cash is abit low these days something simple but catchy would be fine.

This looks like a real nice substrate and a lot cheaper than some substrate's made for fish tanks, just wonder if it safe for aquarium use?

Their fine black gravel is called " midnight black" . they also have something called "black crush " which is large crushed stones

 

I am looking for sand, is the midnight black fine for aquariums or is it too fine?
