What do you want to test for?

A good test kit, which probably isn't 100% accurate are probably the test strips. There are plenty to choose from. Just ask someone at the LFS.

Get the strips... They have all of that. But just watch out for the expiration dates on them.

The Tetra strips also have chlorine tabs on them and hardness tests.

    For the master kit - R400 - R500

    For the strips: +- R150

The master kit would be the best option, but the strips will give you a rough guide.

I got mine there a year ago... tested once a day for the first 3 months, thereafter once a week. I literally used the last nitrate test last week

I paid R399.00 but could be more now

Test strips are not 100% accurate. They can absorb water from the air, and thus when mixed with aquarium water give you an inacurate reading. The Api Master test kit is definately the best, BUT it is a pain to always use. The strips are a lot easier.

I would recommend get strips, and then get a seperate test kit for Nitrates (This is generally the most important thing to test for). The Amonia, pH and Nitrites can be checked with the test strips, and then do a proper Nitrate test with the better test kit.

Well I always heard test strips aren't accurate, and clearly there is a massive difference between them and liquid test kits as my Ph alone indicated.

On the test strips I got 6.8 Ph reading, on the liquid kit 8.0.

Now I don't know who to trust.

What are the straight off the tap parameters for okes in Cape Town?
