A 15cm+ juvie is probably better since they are sturdier apparently, good luck finding one :)

Perhaps @Cesar or @MariaS will be able to advise how you go about getting one.

I would say look for a Jardini, my LFS had an adult silver aro in an 8ft tank and it looked cramped

If you want tank mates... then stay clear of a jardini....
If you want Arowana alone then jardini is cool

I understand you looking for an arowana but before you decide to buy or what to buy just think 2 years ahead......
Are you happy to have one arowana only in the tank for years or do you want a few other fish in the tank?
Are you prepared to upgrade to a bigger tank if needed?

If you happy to have just the arowana i the tank for years then a Jardini should be ok in a 8ft

If you want other fish in the tank, a jardini is not a good idea as they are extremely agressive in general

If you look at a silver, you will be ok in a 8ft/ 2m for about 2 years then she will get too big for a 2m and you will need to upgrade

Alternatively you can look at an Asian which like a jardini might be ok in a 2m depending how big she gets

I have a Pearl Jardini Arowana which I am looking at get rid of as I am redoing all my tanks at the moment. Must be about 18 to 20cm long, eats very well, loves meal worms. Currently housed with a variety of fish like Silver Dollars, Upside Down Catfish, 3 Fire Eels and couple other oddball fish.

PM me if your interested and make an offer.
