    ROYAL TWIG - WHIPTAIL -FARLOWELLA
    Only 60-70mm

WOW! You'd think with major difference, between this Whiptail and other "Royal Whiptail" being the first few dorsal rays scalloped back
    ....kinda like a windswept crest
it would not make much of an impact.
    BUT IT DOES!!!!

    Hi Gareth
They are acctually not that dificult, lots of big leafed plants, soft water with a resonable current and lots of Algea or vegie food.
And you should keep them in groups of 3-5

    To keep, show, or breed?

Obviously you have to decide what your aim is....

    BUT here goes:

Fish were bred in pH 6-7.5
    KH 2-8
    Around 25-30C
Fish-house has some minor fluctuation. according to rainfall, seasonality of water source.
Certainly high levels of Oxygenation, although the FLOW involved is definitely only supplied by undersized HangOn Filter and extra Large airpowered Sponge Filters.
So, I'd say THIS batch are quite suited to most of our tank ranges

Nothing wrong with keeping JUST one.

Royal WhipTail Sturisoma panamense are interesting at least, and definitely an attractive loricariid at best.
They hungrily mop up surface film and algae as and when found.

Beginner or newbie would be best served to check tank conditions and decide if it's for them ?
An algae free tank will require more dietary supplementation. More critical under 2months, less important with age.

I don't worry myself, if a well advised newbie is far better off than a seasoned veteran who may be misinformed, or going on anecdotal info with some limited experience irrelevant to his city, the ACTUAL fish, and a whole lot more.

Algae wafers, spirulina based foods, granulate of good quality, Frozen BloodWorm, Frozen Artemia, wood, and some baby marrow 2-3/week, all round off a good diet.

These are grazing wood, eat bloodworm and granulate.
