Don’t shove it as far back into the corner as I did, give it a bit more space.

Cryptocorene balansae is another big and tall plant, haven’t seen it locally. Madagascar lace also grows quite fast and suitable for large tanks (but becoming a bit prone to bba in my tank because of the texture).

Oh very nice! I love crypts they look amazing in my opinion and so far the ones that I bought from RBM at our meet up haven't even melted and are doing very well so I might go for a crypt rather. Also I have lots of other plants that still need to grow in so I will have to wait on them a bit:lol:

Just remember that crypt balansae is an exceptionally large and tall crypt. The other crypts would max out at around 20cm or so, depending on species.

Good point. I have a lot of thinking to do still but I think I am going to have Amazon swords as my tallest plant which will max out just above my water level (40cm) and then have the rest full up with S. repens (Idk the full name) and a crypt of some sort. Needing to research as well. I have a plant as well that I don't know what it is but it should bush out and be good cover...will get a photo and maybe someone can help me

A bit blurry but might be bacopa monnieri. Perhaps google it to see if it’s a match, else take some more pics of it and post it under plant ID needed?

This weekend I had a few new additions to my tank!! I got 4 rummy nose tetra, 3 cardinal tetra and a neon tetra (he was mistaken for a cardinal by everyone but he is welcome:lol:so will have to get more neons now I guess) 4 cherry barbs which weren't liking the temperature so they have been moved to @Figeth tank which is a bit cooler than mine, and 2 silver tip tetras...sterbaais should come in this week!! :thumbup:IMG_20191028_074228.jpg

Hmmm I will watch my neon for now then because the tank still needs to be warmed up by 2 degrees still in preparation. I plan to get discus in January so whatever isn't liking my tank in a month or so will have to find a new home unfortunately but whatever is having a good time in December at 30 degrees will stay with the discus  if I get it right:confused:

I still do want to get a few more rummy nose tetras and I would love some glass cats but I'm worried about the temperature for them. Does anyone know if they can handle 30 degrees? Been googling they prefer it at about 27 if anyone know of people keeping them at hotter please let me know

So I have some new additions to my tank!!! I got some sterbai Cory's and 2 very sad looking discus (for now hopefully, they were rescues). Tank is finally sitting at 29-30°C so it's perfect for the discus to recover its just they apparently take a while to acclimatise apparently. Plants are growing in nicely as well I feel. I did my first trim a few days ago and the plants are coming back strong (in relation to what I've got that is.
    Heres a few photos!!

Looking great - I love the proportions of that tank. Was it custom made? Dimensions/ volume? Considering having a new low-iron glass tank made up, similar lowboy style but a bit smaller.

Nice Angel and good luck with the Discus.
Incidentally for anyone looking for nice Angels, Aquatic Warehouse got the best quality fish I've ever seen in SA a couple months ago and there are still quite a few beauties available. Perfect body shape and fins, nice size, etc.
