My current tank has changed way too many times but I'm hoping I'll stop all that once I've got my new tank (Thanks Big G)

This is what it look liked during the first few weeks (week 1-2):
Take note of how small the amazon sword is (scuse the messy kitchen LOL)

I then did some rearranging when I got new plants (week 2-4):

This was taken approx. 2/3 weeks ago before I trimmed and planted everything:

I'll get an up to date photo of the tank this evening. I've taken all artificial deco out of the tank. Dunno what I'm going for here tbh... would like to go for an Amazon setup, but would need to do more research for that.

Thanks Donny, yeah I removed them a while ago. They just stayed in the buckets while I tried to figure how to plant them without having them constantly float :D

No worries JesseG, there may be other's out there who cannot access photobucket.

LOLOL @ Catfish :D no no, I had 2 pleco's in the tank, but I gave them to my mom as my tank's just too small for them.

Thanks for the compliment. That sword is my pride and joy... specially since this is my first planted tank. :D

LMAO ok now it makes sense :D That's Kai ^^,
She used to be a fish enthusiast too, but then she met this gorgeous grey cat who lives in the same complex as we do, so she spends all her time with him/her now :D

Thanks Zoom, I'm really excited to get started on it. Will have more space for the fish because the sword has just taken over :D

    Linxie, your tank look great!
You can hold the plants down using 3 or 4 inch nails through the bundle of roots, after you
took them out of the pots.
Remember the glasswool could damage the fish's gills and it have no benefits to the plants! The swordplants and crypts will love you for the nails!
They benefit from the iron that gets released as the nails rust slowly.
    Gert.

Thanks Gertjc, that's actually a pretty great idea. Speaking of which, my sword definitely needs a nail. Haven't put one in for it yet.

Yeah I've been told that the glassword is very hazardous to the fish. I definitely won't be putting any potted plants in my tanks again :)

    Nice looking tank dude!

Be very wary of using iron nails as they will rust, best to use galvanized or brass or even just some pebbles.

I think we want the nails to rust... this releases iron into the water for the plants doesn't it?

I was wondering the same thing now. The rust won't necessarily be let off into the water either (unless the substrate is disturbed)

The issue really is controlling the quantities. I prefer to use plant fertilizer tablets and dose as necessary.
