@MattLamm the Plecos were R550 each. And I think there were 2 of them. @SterlingAce I think the Puffers were R125 or somewhere there.

    Only if you get caught.
@Dann Druff they are very good fishermen errr.....fishers.They love eating fish.
I know quite a few people that keep them but only one in a tank. You need to feed them smaller fish. They do not generally take pellets or flakes but prefer live bait.

And if the last few honest guys also thought so where would we be then? Wrong is wrong no justification of it through others actions.

Thanks @HeinrichLourens. I keep trying to find those phantoms down in Durbs but have been quoted over R1k from 2 different shops. Not sure why they so much more expensive down this side, all the L Cats seem to be.

    Hi guys and lady's

You will see that I have gone through this thread and deleted a few posts that mention LFS and LPS by name, as you are all aware are rules on the forum and one of them are non sponsor advertising is not permitted so please refrain from posting these any longer and use the PM function to inform interested partings of the actual name or location LPS or LFS....... PLEASE!!!!!!!

I am all for this thread and personally think it is a great idea, @iamdieter you had the right idea in your opening post of using the PM system so let’s stick to it before we are asked by the sponsors to shut it down to which we will have to oblige.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter!

    OFF-TOPIC
if we are getting all rulezy (not sure that is a word) again then best we apply all of the policy "For the purposes of this policy, the word "post" includes messages sent via the private messaging (PM) system." so no a PM would then not be allowed either.

Luckily "TASA reserves the right to determine whether or not a post violates the “intent†" not knowing what the content was that was deleted I do recall a while back - circa 2012/13 that we could share with other members LFS location (area) even mention what we saw or needed etc not sure when that intent to be helpful was changed. Prudent action in the future might be an edit of the offending thread / post rather than a deletion.

    ON-TOPIC
Spotted some SAE (well they tried to sell them to me as a true SAE) in a LFS yesterday - R60 - ouch. These had a very distinct golden pattern above the black tripe. 4 barbels and the most telling sign off all, non-translucence fins (i.e. had some marking) so probably False SAE or Flying fox.

Anybody see true SAE around in the last few weeks?

    Thanks Ferdie

Personally I think the rule is rather retarded, sure not mentioning of other LFS in a sponsors thread would not be ideal. But mentioning it else were should be fine. Not like one single mention will have customers flocking to the mentioned store and not return to the stores that sponsor this forum. Nothing wrong with healthy competition, but then again South African stores still need to catch up on that concept were service is king and holding onto a "monopoly" gets you nowhere.

I think Dorry's got stock in a few months back no sure though.

yeap - we had a few suppliers land them - great stock - got 3 that cleaned-up a BBA issue I had in lucky 13 before the rescape, would love to get a few more of these for some of the other tanks. I always seem to have more BBA in winter due to even further WC reduction so will invest in the them if I can spot the real thing.

Ok so now I have some infraction against me for innocently mentioning where a freshwater moray eel was for sale. Pfffft. Do I then also get a merit for contributing my knowledge in other things?

Read the policy regarding these non-sponsor mentions now, this section pretty much to me makes it sound ok to mention a shop name:

"A non sponsor is normally allowed to be identified if giving a factual answer to the question "Where did you acquire that?". This may mean in the livestock sales forum or questions about stock sighted in a photograph. It may not be allowed if it is deemed obvious by the Moderation Team that the question has only been posed to publicise the non sponsor."

Anyway, I see much more value in growing the hobby via forums with open interaction, than trying in a nearly petty manner, naively make the SA community believe only the sponsoring LFS exist. By growing the hobby the sponsors would benefit much more than by stifling communication amongst members.

I agree, this is just plain silly. While I can see that it would not be respectful to mention other lfs names in sponsor threafs, I see no reason why we cannot mention them here by name without giving contact details.

The sponsors of this forum are just that, sponsors. It appears as if this forum is slowly decaying into a sponsor-controlled monopoly.

I would like to call on the forum mods to put this issue to a vote. At the end of the day we as the customers of the sponsors and other lfs are the ones who need to decide where we buy from. Censorship like this just leaves a bad taste in everyones mouth.

Ok guys - honestly is this nescessary?
For the same money I can foresee the exact same arguments you guys are now applying to get the LPs names allowed, applied not long from now to get contact details allowed.
"I find it rather silly that we CAN NAME a LPs but CANT GIVE THE CONTACT DETAIL! Sponsors should see it as expanding the hobby etc etc etc etc" and the same argument continues.
Uuuuhm also just remember that these forums exist mainly due to sponsors....so...saying they are stiffling the hobby, on a medium basically paid for by them is a little contradictory dont you guys think?

Another thing-tasa does intend naively creating the image that only the sponsor shops exist blablabla ....
It is very naive to think it does and totally irrelevant.

My question to you guys - you post the fish and the price- Someones interested, they contact you via PM and you supply the name and contact detail via PM. Hows that NOT expanding the hobby in the same way? Talk about a storm in a teacup. @Rory -please give finality on this issue as you have the ginal vote here.
We leave this as is and sponsors complain, we change and members complain.
    Solution please.

@Marco: Because people like to voice their opinions and ideally want someone on the other side to listen to them and sleep on them before coming back with a response, instead of doing what you just did. :) In the end just as the forum needs the sponsors the sponsors and forum need us as well. So it wont hurt to actually take the majority's opinion into account, instead of telling us that we have no authority on this. :) Rules are ment as a guideline but by no means are they suppose to be regid or none flexible.

Hectic. I see my post was removed ( appears to be) Saying Blouberg is still very vague considering that there are 3 shops I'm aware that sell here in my area... It is called local fish shop in the end. Can see how people are and will be frustrated that such censorship exists. Are there any Cape Town sponsors here for live stock here anyway if I may ask?

I would say if another shop comes here and starts posting advertisements then it's another story, but discussing rare finds and sharing the information where to attain them shouldn't be removed.

Anyways I don't mean to stir, I'm new here not wanting to fight. This thread is the most interesting thread on the forum, awesome to see what's out there to buy, never knew a freshwater moray eels existed until this thread. Good luck sorting it all out, hope it pleases everyone in the end.
