Led lights for aquarium

In another thread I have issues with the heat from my 4*39W T5 lights, after some research I found a supplier in CPT that supply led strips (6000-7000K as well as 14000K). My biggest questions now is how much would I need, I can post the URL but not sure if this is allowed. Has anyone one this forum ever used or using LED lights for their aquarium.

Of the shelf LED lights are extremely expensive, I couldn't find anything below R1000. I can get the Odyssey 1.2m dual but I don't want an open hood. It will be filled with Geckos and toys in no time.

I tried searching for anything LED related on the forum but could't find anything, or maybe I have an ID10T problem.

 

@squatty - type the word Cree in the search bar of the site. Plenty there and yes they are very expensive...

 

Couple of grand just for lighting is not goign to fly right now. Got this from the local China mall, look the same as what can be bought online. Got 5M of these strips and added them, look great except for the part that the transformer that was supplied only last 10min, cools down for 5m, then the whole process starts allover again. I'm now using a 9V 500mA transformer which works but the lights are only working at 60%.
