leaky filter

soo ,i put up my juwel running all good ,then the next morn the place is flooded ,i found it to be my tetra tec leaking at the hinges that join it ,nothing is coming from the power head but from the hinges ,i checked the o ring and it is ok but loose ,so what do you guys think

 

try putting vasaline on the o-ring before u close it , it should help

 

ok what about if i increace the o ring by adding silicon

 

no dont do that you will not get a proper seal , rather go and buy a new o-ring

Putting Vaseline on a seal that works already is a good idea generally. It stops the rings from drying out. But I think if the seal is gone already, you should replace it, and then start putting vaseline on. Just VERY VERY little. Literally just to coat the ring and make it feel slightly slimy. You don't want it to get into the water.
