    Good Day,

If anyone have some advise on where I can get Lava Rocks for a good price I would be really grateful. Would be an even better one if Delivery is possible.

    Thanx

Have no idea to be honest...bought mine back in the day from BLA before they closed their doors. Just read in a discussion on APSA that some peeps in CPT source theirs from Builders. So it's worth a shot to pop by and have a look I reckon ;)

I thought of using them for some décor in the tank to build some caves and wanted to add some to my sump filter as well.

Is it safe to drill or cut lava rock? It would be a great display in my show tank but the sharp edges will be a hazard for my fish. Im just thinking if I can run a grinder over it to take the sharp edges away it will be great.

I see no harm in doing so, but lets check if someone else comments

I don't see a problem either you are not changing anything so if they are safe they should still be safe.

Lava rock is all jagged edges. However you can try flattening the edges dince it compacts a lot

I bought 2 bags (about 5Kg) for R100 a bag (about 20cm stones) for my filter at a nursery and aquarium shop in ondekkers road Roodepoort. They sell big pieces of lava rock as well.

It is save to cut, drill or grind the edges away. Just wash the dust of with tap water and a hose.

A bag of lava rock is 70cm high and approximately 20cm to 25cm diameter.
