I have used it extensively without issue. Just wash first

Agree, wash first. Been running in my canister for a few months now, no issues.

Dry rock .. ( previously used ) typical large bits, compares to a matchbox. - Yes this is LK's - I did see colour variation between different batches.

Some of them are really very pores, other are more dense.

Colour once wet ... as said, previously used, so you will see a bit of dead algae on it.

It fits the bill for being real lava rock ;-)

I used it for an Amano shrimp tank. All my amanos died and it looked a lot like poisoning. Removed it and used a different filter media, no issues since.

Interesting ... always wonder about what things get exposed to while they are being packed and shipped. or shipped in bulk here, then packed ... who knows.

I put rocks in a bucket of water for a day and measure the pH before and after. Ever since my son put limestone in his tank and killed 200 fry.

Speaking about Lion slightly OT ... these work great for your algae scrapers.

Really, do not even know where to get these in any case. All you get nowadays are the Chinese crap
