    Good evening guys,

My old man called me to come see if I could identify what sort of ailment one of his silver dollars has. The fish in question has a large white patch above the ventral fin on its right side that extends almost all the way to the dorsal fin.

Attached is a short clip of the affliction. Any help identifying this would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,

Hi @Michael11, not at all. From what I have seen this morning it looks completely flush against the scales. It's the first time I've ever encountered this on a fish. I've seen fin rot, white spot, velvet disease and those fluffy growths but this doesn't look anything like them.

Any sucker fish in the tank?

I know that most like to eat off the slime of some fish and thus also cause damage to them.

@DCWarHound, none at all. Tank consists of 1 x Albino Giant Gourami, 5 x Silver Dollars and 1 x Golden Gourami. My old man has been medicating his tank for the past month as we lost the other giant about 3 weeks ago due to some severe fin rot and ulcers on the fish. Have no idea how the ulcers formed.

It could be a burn from the heater, have you got a heater guard on.
