Lake Victoria cichlids sometimes called "Flamebacks"

    Bought three a couple days ago and luckily she didn't spit or worse, swallow, in the bag on the way home. Labelled as flamebacks in the shop, we're on a new journey with Lake Victoria cichlids


    Mouthbrooders are fascinating

    Ah man this is so great to see.. my Hap spit out 4 fry yesterday and they still have their egg sacs attached. She's still holding more though so hoping for the best

    This would be her third batch. But 4th time holding. She lost her first clutch I'm guessing because she was inexperienced

    Victorians aren't as popular as the other Rift Cichlids.

    Possibly because they are not as freely available?
    I was reading how the introduction of the Nile perch in 1960's has decimated the other fish populations in Lake Victoria and without intervention some of the remaining species will join the extinct list.
