Thats not a good mix for one aquarium. The loaches are very shy and tend to hide if any other bottom feeding fish is present. I had about 6 loaches - very active, not shy at all. Added 12 pygmy corys - hardly ever saw the loaches again.

I want to put them in separate tanks, but thanks for that info I really didnt know that, will apply it to future tanks. I have a big planted tank to which I want to add the kuhli loaches, will I see them this way or will they just hide in the vegetation ?

Also worth mentioning ... they like to swim up pipes ...

My experience and I have a few in various tanks - you are lucky if you see them during a WC in a planted tank ... they also tend to be more active when all is dark.

Mine are the complete opposite, have kuhli's and sterbai's and they eat together (out in the open), "play" together and swim together. It even looks like the sterbai tickles the kuhli while its eating.

Possibly has to do with the change in the aquarium. My loaches were the only bottom feeder for more than a year, then the pygmies came along. Did you add your loaches and corys at the same time or possibly the loaches after the corys?

There is always a loach or 5 out in my tank, will see how they behave with plants later on.
