    Howzit guys

I recently got a pair of kribensis, the male from Slummies and I bought the female from the LFS. Questions:

    1. Is the male supposed to be chasing the female away from the cave I provided?

    2. If this is normal behaviour, how long before they pair up? Looking for personal experiences here :)

    Thanks guys
    Luke

Nope the male should not chase the female away.
Typical behaviour for the female is as follows.
Belly turns dark or bright red.
She "Bellydances" in front of the male.
After a while the two disappear.(Wonder Why?)
Next thing you'll see tiny dots swimming underneath her and all other onlookers will be chased to hell and gone.

    Slojo said it...thats it :).
What i do suggest is if u have 1 male get 2 females that way the male can pair off with the 1 he likes...thats what i did and worked.

Unfortunately I can't afford another female at the moment. So I got a whole lot of guppies from a friend for free to give the Kribs more confidence. Only got the guppies last night and already the kribs are out and about. The female's belly is really dark pink and fat and she was circling the males cave with her belly pointing in his direction, but he chased her away, I'm think I should leave her to try harder and hopefully my patience will pay off?

The male has piled a whole lot of sand at the cave entrance, making the entrance much smaller, dunno if this means anything.

Thanks for the replies guys, appreciate it :)

    Thanks Gareth.

I can't believe how much change has taken place since I added the guppies last night. The fish are out and about, she's belly dancing and the male seems to be almost hypnotized by it, he'd rather follow her now than chase her around, and she's getting closer and closer to his cave. Things are looking up from a few hours ago.

Wish you the best of luck. Kribs are awesome parents so you won't loose any fry just make sure you have food for the fry for when they do come out of the cave.

Shot Gareth, appreciate it. And on the food part, will make sure of that. I must get some brine shrimp going when they are born.

Good luck with the Kribs, they are awesome parents and they will look after the fry very well so there will be little to no loses just make sure you have food for them when they do decide to leave the cave. I found Tetra Min flakes mixed with a little bit of tank water worked, mash the flakes up and pour the mix just above were they are, it will make a cloud and then settle for them to eat.
    Hope this help.

It will happen sooner or later, like you said , just be patient.
It's taken my kribs around 2 months but this morning I finally saw the little wrigglers for the first time.
