    hi All,

A friend of mine breeds betta fish and today she decided to get what looks like a giant Apple snail - I myself have seen this at some stores and was keen at one stage until today when she introduced this snail into the tank. Within a half hour, the snail attacked one of the fry fully encompassing and attempting to eat the baby. This baby in question wasnt ill or on its last and as the other siblings, active and inquisitive.
My question is that this snail was marketed in the store as a Chantell Apple snail and no info i search indicates any malicious intent or eating of fry. I have attached pics. betta fry are about 3/4 weeks old so not exactly defenseless as she says the fry attack and nibbled the previous apple snails

Anyone here know what kinda snail is this?

post the last pic, it released 2 fry...so what you see there is one. but uneaten. An accident perhaps or a snack for later?

-edit- managed 2 fry - note size. i'd like to believe it was harass, retract, stuck scenario but 2 though... surely one of them would've shouted to the other wait, its closing...help...etc etc
