Nope..not at all... Get some Botia striata... nice looking, only grows to 10cm and excellent snail hunters.... Just make sure to keep them in at least a small school...

Well - not that I've noticed! I've had my khuli's for well over a year, some for longer ... and am still battling snails. I have it on good opinion that Botia Striata are the answer to the damn sn@ils - but I can't get any!!! I've been looking for over 9 months...

Also, I don't know how big your tank is...

I actually believe my khulis have eaten some snails. There are shells in one little corner of the tank they are in. I heard that they will eat them if they don't get fed enough ( thats not really good for me is it). It's either that or the corys...

There are various chemical ways of getting rid of snails...but I hate using them - imagine the ammonia spike and subsequent bad water quality you will have with a mass die off of snails in your tank... Better to go with the loaches....

BTW...Kuhli's will eat a snail or two if the opportunity presents itself... But Botia loaches eat them like I eat Sushi at a all-you-can-eat buffet...

Khulis are worth getting anyway. They get into all sorts of places and eat left over food. And they are so interesting. I have friends that will stare at my tank for as long as it takes to see my Khulis. Sometimes I need to coax them out of hiding with bloodworm just to please my friends.

I think that with loaches and snail control, you have to have them hungry, otherwise they don't bother. In a general community it is a bit tricky because they just eat the flake and don't bother much with the snails.

Well - I'm happy to report that I've had a group of Zebras for about a month now... and the sn@ils, they are almost history! and I do feed the little striped fellows too - it's just so cute hearing them click happily when I give them their fav food!

I've kept Kuhli Loaches for years and I have yet to see them eating snails, and believe me I had plenty in one of my tank's at one stage, snails that is.... There has never ever been a report of them eating snails that I've come across.

Get klown loaches for a while bud. They do the trick! Masters in snail catching. They sniff those buggers out quickly. They are pretty common in LFS's and they don't grow that fast. If they get too big you can always get them a good home. The cheapest, quickest and safest option in my opinion. They are very pleasing to look at aswell. Just saying.

had thought of the clown route but after a few sites, doing a little more reading the clowns are not going to suite my setup. one of my lps has got sale could have bought 10cm fish for about R70. but the sad story is that they trash planted setups. also not keen on netting out unwanted fish would rather put fish that a dont out grown my tank and b upset the draw card fish in my tank. my eight beautiful discus. but thanx anyhow

Clown Loach isn't always the answer. Got 4 snales at lfs as a treat for him. Looks like he was absand the day at fish school when they talked about snails. Had to remove them manually befor they destroid all the plants.
