KH for Mbuna Cichlids?

    The KH of my water is 5,5 as tested. What should it be for Pseudotropheus Saulosi and other Malawi cichlids? I think I read 8-10 somewhere? That's quite a difference! Should I dose bicarbonate to get it up, or will the fish be ok in 5,5? I'm not keen on dosing unless it's going to be better for the fish.

    As a suggestion, check the kh that they were raised/ kept in, that should give you an indication where you need to go

    Raising your KH will do nothing for your malawies,except buffer the pH.
    At 5.5 dH your water should have enough alkalinity to prevent major swings.

    If you want to make your water more suitable for your malawies,you have to measure and adjust GH.
