    hey all.

Please advise me if this wood is safe to use in my tank.

I got it from my father in law on Sunday, he says the light one is from a peach tree and the other 2 pieces is harde hout or something.

The 2 pieces of harde hout was apparently from a dam or something.

I will be using BARRY.M method for preparing and cleaning the wood.

Just want to know that it is safe to use.

Don't want to harm my Tiger barbs.

    Please advise.

    Thanks.

They are both fine. Just boil the daylights out of the dam pieces to disinfect any unwanteds.

Sweeet then I will go ahead and start cleaning them this weekend.

Will be using Barry.m method on cleaning them.

How much did you boil your wood in your tank?

 Didn't boil it in my tank dude.. Joking.

I put my wood through hell actually. Boiled them for total 10 hours and between boiling put them in the outside room's bath with only hot water for a bout a month or so.

I'd say boil it atleast 6 hours to make sure the nasties are gone. It comes from a Dam so there could be parasites within the wood. Scrub it also between boiling and soaking. This also helps removing debri's from the wood.

here is what i would do, seeing you need something tall in your tank, i would take these 3 pieces of wood, and arange them like a tent or a teepee, leaning against one another and bolt them together nicely in that position, that way the tiger barbs can swim through, around and over them :)

Thanks dude I actually got the method from your thread. How did you piece of wood turn out after the treatment and do you have it in your tank yet?

i would use long coach bolts, hold them in position and use a cordless drill.. drill it deep in till you can hardly see the head of the bolt, once it grows some algae in it you wont see the bolt anymore..
