Julidochromis breeding

My pair of Julidochromis transcriptus had spawned I do not know exactly when but they have various sizes of fry inside there cave site. Sunday pass I could not see much of their fry as I shoned a light inside there cave their was fry hanging with their yolk sacks up against the slate rock. The other are still inside the cave looking after the other fry. Fry usually swim around the entrance of the cave. Parents planned carefully what nesting site they would be using. I stacked-up slate rock in the one corner with lots of grooves where other fish cannot not enter. Parents are like pitbulls protecting this area, nobody may come near.

My pair of Julidochromis dickfeldi has spawned, also took a good spot for there breeding site, the site was opened and to many fish started becoming nosey although the parents guarded this well. I decided to stack more rock all over the nesting site so that the parents came only get through the grooves, but nosey miss lelupi dug and decided to take refuge as she is also carrying. I am not sure if she ate the fry but the parents are still guarding this nest. They had shifted to another area of the nest still extremely chasing off any intruders so they might have moved their fry to that spot. They are on full alert when they come out of that groove so their fry might be in that spot.

My pairs of Julidochromis Regani are also selecting there breeding mates. I have 6 (3 small & 3 large). I have set-up more rockwork at the back of my tank with lots of grooves & caves and they are moving in & out of these rocks. So later there might be fry soon.

All my Julidochromis this is there first time spawning as I bought them when they were still juveniles. Very interesting fish to watch.:blink1:
