    Breeding - Brichardi

    Hi

Have you ever breed these fish before? Let me give you some at advise do not have any other fish in your tank when these fish start breeding.

I bought myself 25 adults and they started pairing off, within 4 months I had 4 sets of spawns from 7 females and 1000 fry.

I never had any killings but the female does some housekeepping to keep the batches small.

These fish stress other fish when they are in breeding mode, they breed like bunny rabbits, does not stop.

I have a 1.2m tank with my brichardi colony only.

I will give you more advise, I started to give to my friend some of my breeding pairs, I am only keeping two pairs.

I took away their breeding places in January and re-introduce back in March and now happy hour has started.

2.0m tank I had them in their first not one week later babies started appearing.

    Breeding brichardi

I admire this fish about 8 years ago when I was still living up in Jhb. There was a petshop on you way to Rifle Range Road they had a huge tank with brichardis and I told myself one day I would like to get some of these fish.

A small tank is no place for these fish to keep or breed they like space and lots of rockwork with caves. Once they find their way into this rockwork no other fish will be alound near this pile of rocks they defend it like a pitbull on heat.

In my breeding pairs I had one pair who had about 400 fry all different sizes. The bad problem is that petshop do not want to purchase them from you. I am now going to advertise on our community website.

These fish are enjoyable to watch how they interact with each other in the group. I had one male who had 4 females with him but each had their own breeding nest. When the batches becomes to big the female will eat from the young.

When you want this fish really to spawn regular water changes weekly.

I will try a post a picture on my tanks it is available via photobucket.

    Chat again.
