    Good day everyone.
So sunday I looked in my tank and saw a heap load of black things moving in a crevice under some driftwood. Upon closer inspection I realised its JD fry. Moved out all of my tetras out of the tank to a smaller 24g.
Now 2 days later i see that the male has started picking of some of the straglers. Ive removed the fry to a 10 gallon tank. Will put in a sponse filter tomorrow as i dont have one on me. The current filter i feel is too powerfull but dont have any other choice. Had to put a piece of stocking over the intake so the fry dont get sucked up.

Now for my question. How do i go forward from here? Ill get my 20g tank running by the weekend so will relocate the fry to there. What subtrate, food, etc is needed? This is my 1st cichlid batch.

From what I read baby brime shrimp or micro worms should be fine for food. But for how long do i feed this before moving on to a normal diet?

Im only used to guppies breeding

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

That must've been quite exciting to find!! Congrats!
Sadly I know absolutely niks about these fish (only fry I've ever kept is Cory fry) so hopefully someone else here can help!
Looking forward to hear more about them!

Hi T-guppy, thanks for the reply. They still doing good and grew nicely. Just relocated them today to a bigger tank. Currently sitting with 85 little ones. What a mission to count.[IMG][IMG]

Congrats. You will need to feed them a powdered food until they are large enough for bbs although from the pic they look like they can probably take bbs already. As they grow you can feed larger foods. You will need to do small frequent WC. Dont remove too much volume and when you add it back do it via the dripping method.

    Good luck

Looking good! With regard to substrate, I wouldn't worry too much - they are going to grow out pretty quickly and then you can make them a more permanent home, or do what ever with them. Just make sure they have place to hide (rocks, drift wood decorations) as there will be ones who need the shelter from their siblings.
