Hi all, I’ve been in the hobby for a while, but I definitely didn’t start out with all the correct information, such as not knowing I need to introduce microfauna to the tank before adding fish. I have a tiretrack eel in a 250 liter that I’ve had for about three years now, and he seems to be doing well, but plants and other fish not so much. I wonder if it’s because of the lack of microfauna? Is there a way I can correct this?

Mircrofauna - do you mean the bacteria that drives the Nitrogen cycle ?
After 3 years I would imagine your filter is functioning correctly.

Tire Track Eels are big and predatory.
Tbh, a 250L tank is too small for a full grown one.
It is probably destroying the plants by it's movements in a too small space, and eating other fish you put in the tank
