Inline Co2 atomiser and heater too big for outlet

In a previous thread, I had problems with my new filter, an Eheim 2212, for my 20 gallon. The filter's flow was incredibly strong and the unit was damn loud, I believe it was defective and I returned it. I got the smaller Eheim 2211 instead and it works like a charm.

Only problem I noticed, the outflow pipe is narrower than the inflow pipe.
The inflow pipe is 12/16mm and the outflow pipe is 9/12mm, this presents a problem. I'm waiting on my inline co2 atomizer and my inline heater, which are both designed to fit a 12/16mm pipe.

I could put both on the inflow, but I'm guessing the incoming gunk from my aquarium could clog up both the heater and the diffuser. Are there any DIY solutions to getting both the heater and my diffuser on the outflow?

Just use one of these reducers, most hardware stores should have something similar.

Thanks Toy, if I use an adapter and add a portion of wider hose to fit my heater and diffuser, would the wider hose decrease the pressure and reduce flow rate?

 

The flow rate will remain the same but the pressure will decrease, if you want to retain the same pressure at the outlet, just use another reducer from the CO2 injector to the water outlet.
