    Hi

I have a community tank with Ange Fish, German Blue Rams and Harlequin Rasbora. Also a Synodontis and Dwarf Gourami.

Over the last few days my Rams have been colouring up quite a bit and I have noticed a little aggression. I had asked for Males only but it appears I have Male and Female fishes, think 1 Male and 2 Female but it’s hard to tell. This morning all looked fine but this evening one of the Rams (I think the Male) has this injury on its head. So I am not sure it’s from a fight or Hole in the Head. I have dosed the tank with Paraguard. Removed the Carbon also. I did a 25% water change 2 days ago.

I don’t have a Hospital tank available right now and would prefer bot to stress the fish further. Currently the tank temp is 28 degrees. It’s planted so I am weary to add salt.

Apologies for the poor photos. It’s the best I could get.

    Wow, that looks eina!
Don't want to hazard a guess as to what the issue is, but I *think* hole in the head would be slightly more gradual.

Is there anything sharp in the tank? A pointy stick or anything like that?

I guess the edges of the Hardscape could have caused it if he crashed up into it during a braul. Hopefully it’s not Hole in the head. Yes, it was pretty quick.

Looks like an injury. HITH causes slow degeneration around the head

Thank you. I will watch it and continue with the Paraguard.

Hole in the head usually manifests as a number of sunken holes in the head region of cichlids
This does look like some sort of serious injury.

Keep the water pristine. But the prognosis does not look good unfortunately

Opted for Euthanasia this morning. He looked far worse off today. Hanging at the bottom for a bit then shot to the top swimming in circles frantically. Looked in some pain.

Absolutely. I hate seeing them suffer.
