I'm new, Tiger Barb Fan!!!

Hi all, always liked fish keeping from laatie days!

Got my self a decent 1m boyu tank setup. Retro fitted led lights. Fully planted tank with no co2.

Got my juvi barbs from RBM Aquatics just when lockdown hit, they are leka big now. Had rocks in, but now put a custom bonsai tree setup in

So...time for another tank?

 

Shew, it was a tough end to my year last year, with my tank cracking on the bend... I was working from home when it happened so I prevented the massive potential mess. However, the fish took it the hardest. I only had a 50lt cooler box to dump them into, and whilst waiting for the insurance claim to come through they started dying.... saddest month of my life. I couldn't wait any longer for insurance, and bit the bullet, bought a new tank... much bigger at 1.2m and 60cm high... It's not a Boyu tank (rounded corners) this time. I will post pics shortly...

Now my biggest issue is filtration... I tried going the DIY canister filter solution but cannot find air tight 25lt buckets anywhere...
I tried a 25lt bucket with a lid from builders. It worked up until I did a power fail test by switching off the pump. Due to the pressure of water coming into the bucket the lid just popped off. So I need a proper screw on lid bucket setup...

Any ideas?

 

Go for a sump.
