Moved this to the Classifieds section as you'll probably have more luck here!

Also, maybe get the scientific name of the exact species you are looking for, as it might help you get the correct plant?

    Regards
    G!

Thats strange, I actually printed out the easy to grow list from Zoom, and she marked it off on my sheet of papers and even told me that the common name was the 'amazon sword', and the scientific name she pointed out was Echniodorus Bleheri... I will call her today and ask her if she gave me the wrong info and if not and she just doesn't have some left, then you could always take a slip from me, if it is that kind of plant? will let you know what the lady says... did you speak to the older lady or one of her daughters? the older lady is the one that helped me...

This is the plant the lady called an amazon sword.... was I given the wrong info again by an LPS?? I decided to look on the internet now to see and it seems that the veins of the plant are different to the amazon sword... do you perhaps know what this plant is then? and I am sorry about not having the right info to give you...I am new to all this, first time I have had live plants too....[IMG]

I called stodels address removed, and they seem to have it, 'broadleaf amazon sword'... you can call and check first on Phone number removed. Sorry again, I feel like an idiot...

    Hello Aqua

Yes, I spoke to the Old Lady.
You get different species of the Amazon Sword. The ones she showed Me in her tank is the "Echinodorus amazonicus"(Amazon SwordPlant). I am looking specifically for the "Echinodorus Bleheri"(Broadleaf Amazon Swordplant) To see the difference Check the following link (scroll down and You will see the difference):

    Hello Aqua

The pic You posted looks like the one I am looking for (can anybody with more experience in the amazon plants confirm this please). But She had none of those in stock yesterday when I went in. I will give Stodels a call. Thanks for the Info.
And dont be sorry or feel like an Idiot. You are just passing on information that others have given You. All information is appreciated.

Thanks Norgrin, I am going to call Eco Pets none the less as I want to know whats going on, the veins in the plant I have are vertical whilst all pics on net and the link you sent me are mostly horizontal... so I am very confused... Eco pets opens at 9.30, then I will confirm with them... and the pet shop at Stodels have done a revamp so they have a lot of new stock of plants :) will let you know what eco pets says..

I would NEVER take the advice on scientific names for plants from any LPS. The way I do my plant buying is simple--

    Is it true aqautic: No
    Leave it

    Is it true aquatic: Yes
    Do I like it: Yes
    Buy it.

Alternately, I have received 99% of my plants from TASA members. And have only paid for the plants I bought from one member. All the other members jsut gave away. Why pay a LPS when members are mahala.

Well that's awesome! I would still like to know what I have in my tank though... went to stodels myself today and they couldn't even tell me what they had in there for sale, they definitely had the one that I took a picture of and then they also had the one that the link showed to be the broad leaf amazon sword... so who knows... I think I will keep an eye out on the forum and hopefully someone is offering some slips of something nice, I would really like a good ground cover one, and maybe some moss and then something tall for the filter area to cover it as you mentioned, I bought a purple long leaf one that grows tall today and it looks lovely :)
