I know very well that there will always be a certain fish that everybody on TASA would like to own.

Wether it is on the BL, too expensive, hard to get or that you do not have the size tank that the fish requires. Whatever the reason for it.

I hope that I'm inside the rules of TASA with this thread.

I would like to own an electric blue Jack Dempsey (Archocentrus octofaciatus, var. blue) and two cichlids from Madagascar named, Starry Night Cichlid (Paratilapia Bleekeri) and the Black Diamond Cichlid (Paratiliapia Polleni).

The two cichlids from Madagascar are endangered in their country of origin and therefor very rare. Not too easy to find.
The Electric Blue Jack Dempsey's are black listed.

These are the fish that I wish I could keep.

What would you keep if you could afford, could find, was legal and if your tank was of sufficient size?

    Have a great day.

I would like a large 5000L tank with lots of different cichlids that aren't malawi.

On a more realistic scale,i would really like some Jewel cichlids in a 200L tank.

No idea why they are blacklisted while other cichlids of similar impact aren't.

I have seen almost every fish listed here for sale in south Africa, I am not a fan of the BL.

Same with convicts (and they are even hardier),yet they aren't BL.

@woerman I know :),i kept some in the past.Gave them away when i dropped the hobby for a bit.

I really love Cichlids like Convicts,Jewels,Firemouths and green terrors.Too bad they don't get along well.

When is the last time the Blacklist got updated?

It seems as stale as Battlefield3's DGL rules.

Are they actually BL? You're in Cape Town, you could do water changes with sea water.

I wonder what size tank you would need?
