    Hi all!
Some of my fish have ich :(
I've been reading up on some old posts on this site about ich treatment. What I've seen is:

heat treatment (done, I've raising my temp up to 30, which I think should be fine for my fish short term - ember tetras and cardinal tetras)

salt treatment: appealing because of low cost - however, I am concerned about potential damage to my plants - has anyone had experience with this?

seachem paraguard - I am concerned about it harming my shrimp.

garlic concentrate - appealing because of low cost and accessibility, and unlikely to harm plants or shrimp. However.. seems like homeopathic 'natural = good' bs.

Any other options that I am missing?

I’ve found that paraguard doesn’t harm the shrimp (30C might? What species of shrimp?). Paraguard does harm snails though and if you have snails in your tank the die off could cause Ammon/ nitrate issues / tank imbalance - just something to be aware of and manage with testing and water changes even after the fact. Highly effective for ich though. Yes salt will harm your plants.

Heat and water changes are all you need. No need for salt, garlic etc. Kick the temp up to 30 like you did, and do frequent water changes. Make sure to gravel vac if possible, depending on how "planted" your tank is. If you need to resort to a medication, Ich- X is the absolute way to go. Its invertebrate safe, plant safe and will sort you out in record time. It can and probably will stain any ornaments you may have including the silicone. It didnt stain my tank when I used it, but your mileage may vary. Follow the instructions and keep the temp up. Make sure to have proper water agitation, higher temp=less dissolved oxygen in water column for livestock.

    Thanks for the info guys
@A new day my shrimp are regular red cherry shrimp culls - I think they are pretty hardy?

Will carry on with frequent water changes and hope for the best - fish behaviour is still normal.

I used salt and Rooibos tea for my planted tank with tetras and shrimps in it, had no real issues. As fas as i understand it, all the salt does is irritate the fish skin and makes it produces more of the slime lairs that helps it fight diseases and the Rooibos seems to always make my fish more relaxed after i add it to the tank
