Ok so if tomorrow we had to leave planet earth and start somewhere else what is the one single species of fish you would save?

Any fish even if its blacklisted in South Africa, remember this is a new planet so no list apply.

For me it would have to be Panda Cories.

Easy... Hypseleotris compressa (my Avatar fish)... Gorgeous, fascinating mating behaviour and good colours...Can also tollerate a temp range from 5 - 38 degrees + fluctuations in salinity and pH... Dont know what type of planet I might land on....lol

PS: Cool thread start Gerhard - cant wait to see what the rest come up with...

Funny how all 3 of us chose smallish fish so far... If i was thinking in a survivalist mode though... Carp or Tillapia as food fish, but hey,if we are able to make it to the stars - food will be the last of our worries!

Can we take a plant species along as well? @Vis... Hey,if I can keep my Gobies going,I should be able to propagate the Madagascan Lace(Aponogeton madagascariensis) plant as well... Well I used to in the past anyway....

Now this will sound crazy but the good old "stokvis" found in oceans. It has been overfished and consequently are heavily thretened.
p.s. All you get now in the Cafe is Hake and Chips.(Anyone still remember Stokvis?)

Apistogramma Borelli and/or Ap. Agassizii 'Tefe Bauana'.

If I had room for one more (even if I had to smuggle it in a Thermos flask) would be the Peruvian Emporer Tetra!
