    Good day :)

I'm currently buysy with Grade11 final exams but it's going good. Gonna redo my tank after the exams and came here for some expret advice and also to share my worklog :) My tank is about 100l - 130l I think, and is plant-less because... damn silver dollars. I want to get some plants in there and new fish.

I'm into case modding (current project is Proxima - by Razer2007 [google it, I can't post a link yet :( ] ), designing and photography.

I'm from Melkbosstrand (near Cape Town) and in Melkbosstrand Private School.

Tanks for the warm welcome from Rory and I hope this will be an nice stay :)

I would love to do small modifications to your case! But it's more fun doing it yourself. Both are quite an expensive hobby. I mean my budget for the scratch build I'm busy with is like R3500 :\

I don't game that much but when I have nothing else do do I'll play some minecraft, Crysis2, Battlefield. I'm not too into CoD. It just stays the same for too long.

I agree with Henk... R3500 is a good starting budget for a tank! What size is your current tank?

    Welcome to the forum!!

Or you could build a rather nice PC case!

My current tank is 100l but it's a bit long and thin (90cmX32cmX36cm +/-) and is scratched a bit. I don't want to spend too much on a tank as we go away on holiday often and in 2013 I'm going to college/uni. I already have most of the things. Just need some decor like a nice piece of wood, and plants. I have an awesome filter a 3 thermostats (total 250Watt). I don't need to buy everything new when I start my tank.

Here's a render of the case I'm building:

It would be nice :) I like big clean tanks. After the exams I'll see if I can come.

That tank looks good tho. And I will be honest I am DROOLING over that PC case build. Im a gamer as well, currently back in UT3, Diablo 2, Terraria, DCU , Magicka, and and and whatever else I get for cheap over xmas from steam. Im putting R50 a month away in a sock drawer so that I can actually buy a new case, for now ?I just want one that is quiet and runs cooler :p Since I have to upgrade my pc for D3, and a few other games. I am horrific in Battlefield! I didnt even get the latest one this time round.

(btw is ossim to find another pc geek here :p)

Thanks Wyvren :) Haha, that case isn't a photo, it's a render I made. I'm still busy with the building. http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=216706
Do you have any good metalworking skills? You can build your own case man. I'll help you. It can turn out to be more expensive, but it's a lot nice to have your own. PM me if you want to know more.

The tank doesn't look too bad if you want a rocky chiclid tank. But look how scratched it is, and the light I have in now is yellow-ish and weak. I'd like to have plants in it that's why I'm "overhauling" it.

Hehe nope any diy i bribe my brother to do, he is a genius when it comes to that kinda thing. He works as a mechanic on race cars so has access to all the toys. As a female of this species i have learnt a long time ago not to try and fix things myself. Altho putting together a pc is childs play for me, i have a fear of all big machines : P. the scratches are not visible so save up and you can do wonders with the tank.

    Ah cool.

I might put some L-shape aluminium profiles around the edges to cover up the ugly silicone joints.

Good to hear that a f3male (did I understand correctly?) can also do some work on a PC!
