    Hi,

So I posted a while back about my 15L tank on the New Member section and thought I should share what is currently going on.

I got a 45L tank from @Pezulu (thank you very much) and it is currently cycling.
My 15L still has the 2 male guppies in it and I haven’t had any problems again but they will be moved to the 45L.
One of my friends is selling of his 2 tanks (one is empty the other has a lot of guppies and some bristlenose)...I’ll be buying the empty one from him (300L) and will also get some guppies and most of his bristlenose.

I will keep this thread updated.

Oooh MTS (multiple tank syndrome) has kicked in strongly!
    Enjoy

Edit: move the filter in the 45L up a bit so that the outflow is about 3 cm below water level. It should cause slight ripples / movement on water surface (which helps oxygenate the water) but not break the surface with bubbles

And photo is a bit blurry on the 15L but make sure your heaters are properly submerged (there is usually a line basically at the top/ cap), they can burst if exposed to air while running and wipe out your tank. Take care of this during wc also, or switch off the heater during wc or whenever you take it out of the tank.

I’m not running heaters currently...room is hot enough that both tanks are constantly between 24-27°C

    Update:

I just tested the 45L and the nitrites are just barely above 0ppm and nitrates at about 10ppm.
Will test again this weekend and if all looks good I might add fish by the end of next week.

Perhaps even sooner! Test for ammonia and nitrites first but could be just another day or 2 based on your nitrites. And add fish very gradually so that the beneficial bacteria can multiply and keep up. Exciting!

    That sounds about right.
As long as you have been seeding with something like Seachem Stability you should be able to introduce livestock any day now.
If not, the tank could go into another cycle once livestock is introduced, which could be very detrimental to your livestock.

I'm a bit worried that you aren't running a heater.
I would much rather have one in the tank and not need it, than need it and not have one.
You could set it up in the tank, and set it to 24°C. It will remain off for most of the time, unless there is a cold spell, and the temps drop drastically.

My shrimp tanks are all set at 24°C, and the heaters seldom if ever come on now that the season is hot.
Water temperatures average around 25.5°C, but the evenings can sometimes still drop quite quickly.
The tank with fish is set at 26°C, and the temperature in that tank stays at about that temperature. The fish require higher temperatures than shrimp though.

Think you can move one of the guppies across on Friday. Keep the other one in the 15L to keep it cycled.
If the 45L stays cycled with the guppy for a week you can add another 2 and wait another week or two.

Might be my own superstition but I like adding a single dose of Stability each time I increase the load on the tank with additional livestock.

Then move the male across to the 45L on Friday and keep the female in the 15L. She may drop fry in there and then you can move her across too and grow out the fry in the 15L. And so the party starts :D
Try stick to 1 male and 3 females until your 3rd tank is up and running.

Looking at the top picture of the fish in your 15 litre tank it would seem you have a male (orange) and a female (silver) in the tank.
The silver female seems to have a gravid spot, and is quite swollen.
Perhaps you need to remove the male and transfer him to the 45 litre, and get some hornwort for the 15 litre, unless you don't mind the female eating all the fry.

Yup that big one is a female. Incoming babies alert. Separate them now unless you want that female to be pregnant every month from now till next June.

    Looking good @JD Venter
    MTS sure kicked in fast
Must admit I also like to add some stability when adding new fish especially in small tanks that more easily feel changes in bioload
All best with your forthcoming babies
