Huh? I'm lost!

This's a bit weird, but here goes:
I've googled till the cows come home, but...
A few days (3) ago, noticed a zebra danio (1 of only 2) was darker.
Then it developed a pale pink spot on its forehead (not fluffy).
Not eating, but otherwise still behaving normally.
This evening, a white "thing" began emerging from the spot. Removed it in terror of whatever it was/is spreading. Watched as a tiny (maybe 1mm) white erm.. something dropped to bottom of glass. No sign of movement from the emerged "erm".
Lesion is now red.

Sorry, tried to take pics, but camera not up to it.
56L tank, temp 26-27; can't give w.parameters; new to tank: only plants; tank is 8 months "old"

any ideas?

 

Sounds like some sort of internal worm i would ask the Prof .
