Huge goldfish

I went to buy secondhand canisters today and noticed the person had a pond, there was goldfish in but could not see anything . Did catch 9 big fish and 2 young ones. Will upload better pics as they are in a 3ft with a canister for now, will try to sell them as he wants cash . Will empty his pond to try and save everything in there . Think i might have saved them, no filter and was very dirty. Used my pond water in the 3 ft

 

Good on you! They look in good shape considering the poor living conditions.

 

Nice man, do you perhaps now the age +/- as they seem rather big.

 

Some seem well over 20cm , the dark one is about 8 years , the only one they remember . I might keep about 3 as the goldfish is my other halfs choice , might keep the short fat one,the dark one and the one totally white

All seem to be looking great , did a 50%wc today . Only the lion head has some strange black markings on the top fin and the front side fin I don't know , anyone about this ?

 

Well now I've learnt something. Had no clue they get that large!! Makes seeing them in "bowls" seem outright cruel.

 

I do hope to find a home for 5 of them soon, I will house 3 into the pond but I don't like them in the 3 ft , small but I bet they circumstances are better for now then where they came from . Anyone ideas about the black markings on the one ?

 

Not sure about the black marks, it could just be the color of the fish,it dose'nt look raised like something growing there, but you could always give them a salt treatment just to be sure, goldies are pretty tough.

 

So I got 6 to a home (3 to a shop) , I will keep 2 .
Now, how long should I quarantine them ?
