Just popping in to say howzit,

Still a newb when it comes to planed tanks. Have been keeping marines for the past 10yrs. My current setup has been running for the past few years without giving much attention to what's happening in the tank.
I used to house a massive Betta in my planed Shrimp tank just to keep the shrimp population under control, it was awesome to watch him hunt.

We called the Betta flappy fins, he lived with us for the past 4 years, and just one day went belly up. Not sure if it was age.

Now its time to investigate the hobby further and learn more!

    Than you!

the marine tank is 100x60x60 a nice manageable size:)
The plan is to build another 100x60x60 as a planted tank for the opposite side of the room. I'd like to add a bunch of schooling fish to it, but first would like to sort the plant side of things then add fish.

Awesome! Feel free to ask any questions you might have. Many helpful folks around here.

Do you have something specific in mind for the scape? Any specific style or inspiration pics? Looking to do low tech or high tech?

Oh yeah I missed this. Yes then definitely low tech, planting densely (including some fast growers ie nitrate exporters) and stock lightly.

So my daughter wanted to add some colour to the FW tank, we decided a few weeks ago that we will add a few fancy guppies to the tank.

This morning the one female gave birth to 5fry, super cool i must add all the babies hiding in the long eel grass.
Has anyone fed the fry Coralific delight? i see most of the ingredients are what they need and has lots of protein

Also busy searching the forum now on how to raise them

    Congrats!
I haven’t used the food you mentioned but guppy babies are very easy to feed with ground up flakes or granules- as long as it’s small enough for their mouths. Alternatively Hikari First Bites (fry food).
The biggest danger in the first few days is that they’ll get eaten by the adults so some hiding spots at the surface (eg floating plants). But tbh unless you have multiple grow out tanks some population control is perhaps not a bad thing once the females start dropping fry they don’t stop!
