How to Importing Fresh Water Fish to South Africa

Hi everyone

As most of u know im new on the site. Thought i would post this as, wow im battling here :evil:

As to my introduction forum i said i am looking to do Discus in the soon future and want to import more unique ones to sa for myself to enjoy and breed, if even i have seen not more then 10 different breeds in our pet shops in Durban. So this is my reason for doing this.

Im trying to get a fresh water permit(if 1 is even needed but as far as i know it is, i may be wrong) been forwarded around the country 8 times and no one in the departments knows what they doing unfortunately or can help me, but waiting upon a call with a lady who is now going to help me find out with data and which department does it etc... i hope :bigsmile:

Does anyone know the correct department for KZN importing fresh water fish as i have departments out of KZN that can do permits for this, yet don't support KZN i would like direct contact numbers/email if possible or il be beating around the bush again ush:

So i don't know, im a bit stuck here, any help would be appreciated, and thought maybe it would be help to others who wish to do something similar for specific fish they would like, it will also help others not to pull there hair out like i am at the moment lol

In the error of my whole process(being sent wrong data) i do have the permits and requirements for Marine Fish imports if anyoe would like it, mail me and il forward it to you(i know this is fresh water forums but may be people who do both) but if i can help why not

contact Altum here on the forum he is a importer of most fish and know what he's doing and very help full allso a sponser of the forum he can save you a lot of time and hassel

@Jamie if you really want to do the importing thing you can pm Irma, but as far a I know I works out better and cheaper if you just get it from the current importers or maybe get a group of people to buy stuff with you to make it more worth while! Lol pm me hehehe
