Seeing that there seems to be so much interest in microworms over the last of couple days, I though that I would share some information that I found while researching them.

This is a link from a guy by the name of Wayne Schmidt. Lot's of very interesting info. http://www.waynesthisandthat.com/microworms.htm

I also have a PDF from a forum member, but I am waiting on him to confirm that I may post it here.

I will also post 'my way' of doing it, that has worked for me.

Hey Darryn. Please post how you do your micro worms. I do mine on oats with some water and some toweling over it.

This is the procedure that I use at the moment. It is based on a PDF that I got from Tyrone Genade (Thanks once again). If you want a copy of it please PM me with your email address.

    To start a new culture
Take a slice of white bread and cut off the crust
Make a solution of 1 cup water, 1 teaspoon sugar and 1 pinch brewers yeast (not the instant kind)
Put bread in plastic container. (I will post photos of what I use)
Wet the bread with the solution. I normally use about 10ml. It must be wet, but not soggy.
    Add microworms to the bread.
Sprinkle a pinch of brewers yeast over the bread and worms.
I have recently started adding a small pinch of Pronutro as well, but not sure if it helps.
    Wet bread and worms lightly.
    All done.

    To feed culture
After a few days the bread will start going watery as the worms consume it.
When it starts becoming runny, I feed them.
As above, cut the crust off a piece of white bread.
Sprinkle a pinch of brewers yeast over culture.
    Cover with new white bread.
Sprinkle a pinch of brewers yeast over new bread.
Again, I have recently started adding a pinch of Pronutro as well.
Wet new bread lightly with solution described above.
    All done.

I normally find that the day after feeding, I have a population explosion, with masses of worms climbing the sides of the containers.

I harvest them by running my finger along the side of the container, and dipping straight into the tank. Just try not to get any of the culture medium in the tank.

There are many variations to the above, but this is what has worked for me.

Now that I have 4 strong cultures going, I will try other methods and see if there is another method that works better for me.

Anyone else have a method that has worked for them?

    HIH

Thanks again for the update, and effort :) Much appriciated :p

Just so we know "Cultures are mailed from Canada and are usually received within 5 to 7 business days for customers in the USA." They do mail them overseas so i assume it would work here :)

    @ Darryn:

Just want to tell you that the bread culture is awesome!! I can bear that smell allot easier than the oats!!

And that the bread culture is giving me MORE than enough worms :blink1::blink1:

    Thx again for your post
