how strong is my tank ???

    hi guys i just want to know how much weight i can put into my tank tank specs : its a sun sun 1000 ltr tank with 16mm tampered glass on a wooden cabinet my substrate is about 3-4 mm thick .I want to put a couple of rock formations in for my cichlids but scared i over do it and the whole thing collapse

    hi dude, there are a few threads on the issue of putting rocks into your tanks, and i think there general consensus is that you should make sure they are siliconed together so that they do not fall over and the 2nd thing you can do is put a nice piece of styrofoam in the bottom of the tank, under the subtrate, and then put your rocks on that.

    either way, the main rule is, do it CAREFULLY! LOL

    oh yes, and you can keep the styrofoam down with a few carefully placed spots of silicone.

    cheers and good luck. also remember, fish poo can get caught / stuck underneath the styrofoam layer and cause hassles like ammonia and nitrite spikes.....
