There are a lot of threads on what to feed Discus, but how much. I am talking about adults here. And I am going to answer the question with the official line first... feed enough for 5 minutes of eating.

I have 15 of various sizes. I have not weighed out exactly how much food they are getting but it has been something i want to try and work out.

This is an estimation based on how long packets last and gross estimations. When I am home in a few weeks I will measure the food to see how much they are getting.

Mine get 10grams of Benkers Royal for breakfast. I wait until that is all eaten then they get about 10 grams of dry food (2 X 3 finger pitches) Then when that is all done they get a cube of thawed bloodworms/ brine shrimp/ krill (randomly rotated)
Lunch is dry food about 10 grams.
And dinner is the same and I add some pellets for the corys for their evening forage.
If I see the discus hanging around the "feeding corner" watching me expectantly they will get a snack, so they get another small feed in most days.

The 7 cardinals eat what floats by from the discus and the 10 odd corys move in when the discus have stopped eating. The cardinals and corys are fat and happy, the discus seem happy.

@Biggles - Your post has made me do a little exercise that I had not done before - have thought about measuring it but never done so - you got me doing it thanks man !!
I have 32 almost adult fish - about 18 months old. It works out that I feed them 50g of dry food a day - spread over 5-6 feedings. Then, every day they get 8 cubes of either Bloodworm OR Brine Shrimp at about 6 in the evening. First feed in the morning is 2 or 3 large pinches of Spirulina Flakes or Breeders Flakes. Cannot really weigh the amounts, but they are LARGE pinches-full.
    So, that's my feeding story.

this is my feeding of discus and it works for me.i have an internal sump design.i feed heavy in the sense i dont limit my food.when it is feeding time,i switch off the internal pump.i wait for water to settle and i feed my own beefheart mix, granules and bloodworm.i alternate between the 3 for am and pm.bloodworm is generally a snack.i feed till their tummys are bulging.and they eat like pigs.once they have eaten their food,i switch on the internal pump and wait approx 5 min.i dont have gravel so it is easy to syphon off all uneaten food.the pump generally pushes the uneaten food to one corner.i remove uneaten food and do a small top up.this way i know for sure they have eaten well.all tanks and designs are unique to each other.i think finding the one that works for you as an individual is the greatest joy.this set up works for me.IMG-20141025-00521.jpg
