How do i make this happen?

Hi Guys

I am starting a new setup from scratch and require some advice. I am wanting to do a Marine 2m x 50cm x 50cm tank with a 1.2m sump. The tank needs to stand at eye level [1.3m H] and the setup has to be whisper quite as it is in a studio. I am also wanting to drywall/wood-fit the stand flush to the tank, not top and bottom [please see attached pics].

Your Advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @SuperTreeMan, that will be a great setup. You'll need to build a stand with steel first to let the tank rest on it and build the dry walling around it. That size tank would weigh almost a Ton. You could add sound damping material in the bottom halve where the hardware would be situated. For this you'll probably need cupboard doors under the tank to access the hardware.

I second trying the MASA forum as there you'll fing the advice on equipment needed for marine tanks. You need to plan space for skimmers etc. And these take alot of space. Lots of DIY projects there as I know a few of the guys. HTH

I will give MASA a try. Do you think it will be possible to make the glass flush against the dry wall? They stand will therefore have to be a 1cm smaller than the tank on each side...i havnt seen this been done before?

That is definitely possible. And I have seen this before. Just need to plan the layout corectly. Good Luck.
