I have a couple of angle fish in a 90 cm tank. One is very huge, about the size of a tennis ball. The other three is a little smaller, about the size of a ghof ball. I am wondering, how long will it takes these fish to breed? I`ve heard and read the female lays the eggs, the male fertilizes them and then the couple take care of the eggs. Now some of my questions are: How long does they care for the eggs? Will they eat them later? Or do they continue to care for them until they are big? Should the parents be removed on a later stage? Once I`ve seen a couple guarding their eggs and they (the couple) was not very happy with the other angles in the tank. Once in a while one of the parents went to chase the other angles ( who did not come near the eggs)
    Thanks

Hi As you may know, angel fish are part of the cichlid family. You should keep about 6 of them together in a tank. 90cm is a little small. As soon as they grow up and it may take some time, two of them should form a pair. The female will find a spot where she will deposit her eggs and the male will go fertilize them. You need to be careful at this time as angel fish will become rather protective over their eggs and can become very aggressive. Angels will breed in most aquarium water but, they prefer slightly soft water. Hope this helps.

well depends if the pair have spawned before or not sometime they gard them (but only with expirence) and others will eat the eggs or they will wait for them to hatch and then eat them if its a new pair they most likely will eat the eggs a few times but then will start protecting the eggs i have a pair that the female protects the eggs while the male will want to eat the eggs so after they spawn i take the male out becarefull when doing this if you scare the female she will eat all the eggs

    Thanks for the help.
I am actually wondering how long does the pair guard the eggs and do they (the parents) need to be removed on a later stage?
