What is your worst holiday return nightmare? I just came back from a two week holiday and found my only 2 live plants dead, water just indescribable (because of over feeding) lights off and fish not looking to happy. The excuse was oh was the light suppose to be on every day, they looked hungry. None the less I am not happy. A teaspoon of food three times a day, come on don’t some people have a brain. Lol but anyway did what was needed to be done:bigsmile:

The best thing to do when you go on holiday is to go to a plastics shop and buy these small little blastic cups that you will get your soya souce in if you get take away sushi. Then you mesure food out for each day, write the date it is to be fed on the lid and bobs your uncle - no over feeding.

As for the lights its best to put them on timers. All of my lights run on R60 timers i get from builders.

Has anyone seen a multi-plug with a built-in timer by any chance?

    The normal three pronged variety?

My problem is that I can't fit one of those into the double sockets I have on the wall, so was hoping to put a multiplug inside the cabinet which then just runs one plug out.

Then again with a normal multiplug I would probably have enough clearance to fit the timer plug, especially if I cut the two prongs of two ballasts and just connect them to one plug.

Sorry to reply so late. Thanks Henk that is a good idea will def do that in the future. I wanted to buy those but makro was out of stock when i went to buy them. Was on special a couple of months back. Sauron why don't you look at a pool pump timer if you are willing to spend a bit of money. i have put that into my plan with the 2m for my lights. It will go with the rest of the pugs under the tank you just connect another main wire to that. When i have set that up i will post the digram. Just still working out the wiring.

Timers are the no 1 on any new tank set-up... We've found that to be the easiest, (surest) route to keeping our fishies happy.. We like to lay in on a weekend!!! :)
