Hi riddi and welcome. Just joined here myself. I found my betta was very happy in my planted 2ft (60L) setup and later in my 3ft (90L) setup. He loved sculking around between the plants, rocks and logs. He was almost always busy scavenging around and investigating all over. Great fish!

yeah the reason why he didnt bode well with your butterfly fish is because they will eat him or he will drown trying to avoid them (even though he is a fish, he is a labryinth.sp fish and needs to breathe air at the surface). also your butterfly fish will outgrow that tank...its tooooo small. also they prefer to be kep singular if memory serves me right.

    by the way, welcome.

    Thanks guys
I am currently investigating having a custom tank built, looking at a 900 x 900 cube with a sump and custom stand.

dont make the tank too high...also your width...it wont fit through a standard door...go with a 750 width and you will be fine...tight squeeze though!!!

your height, dont make it higher than 650 unless you are 7ft tall...this is for cleaning purposes...also your lighting requirements (thats if you choose plants), you will need to run metal halide or lots and lots of T5s...

look forward to the pic of the custom built tank...

no worries riddi...had a cube that size as i was saying earlier, and remember scraping my entire hand against the stupid security gate to get it through the door... also remember that tank is gonna a weigh a huge amount of wait even when empty so make sure you have very strong support carriers with you...also it should be in 10mm glass if its 500 high any higher you will have to go with 12mm up to about 650 and then 14mm for heigher...
