I got given a 1m tank today. 2 plecos and a botia loach. Dimensions are 100x35x35. decent enough size so it should be stable enough. Besides the fish, the tank came with everything. The previous owner wants to set up a 600 litre tank for himself, but is currently busy with building alterations on his house. This allowed me to borrow his filter(that should handle 400 litres) while I have the plecos The idea is to have this set up as a community tank for my 3 1/2 year old, with lots of plants. I replaced the small undergravel filters, with 2 bigger ones, that will have better flow, and bought a better airpump. the old one probably just need a refurb, so I will have a look for parts next week. I'll most likely go for a bunch of small fish - mostly middle feeding tetras. and then possibly some topfeeders(probably a guppy or two) My previous tanks was completely overgrown with plants, and I did not need to clean them, except I did the occasional water swap, as the body volume of fish compared to the total surface area was quite low My problem is that while I have the plecos, i'm a bit wary due to their body volume to introduce new fish. The filters and aeration should suffice but I'll rather not add as I am wary of power outs. Anybody wants to swap the two plecos (25 and 30 cm respectively) for some small fish? Plant friendly ones, as a few small fish and lots of plants will make for a low maintenance tank. I'm in randburg hjs
Thanks for all the welcomes. As soon as the plecos are out, i'll be hunting for plants. I've allways been a sucker for the cryptocorenes, and they grew really well
